Second SXSW screening of “Sorry, Thanks” (March 15th)…
Sunday Night Screening of “Sorry, Thanks” @ Alamo South Lamar, 7:30pm
Alamo South Lamar is one of my favorite theaters anywhere: projection is nails and you can get beers served tableside. I arrived early and there were hundreds of people standing in lines. Our line stretched out the door and went around the corner. There was barely enough room to move around inside the theatre, wall to wall people, flashbulbs from press, overall chaos.
We got slotted into Alamo theatre #3 which holds 118 seats – after a quick tech check, we quickly filled every seat and turned many badge holders away, unfortunately. Folder chairs were even brought in to accommodate a few more.
Most of my friends who showed up early got in ok – the late ones did not, sorry. It was kinda nerve wracking dealing with the VIP seats and the overall madness that is SXSW. Controlled chaos for sure.
The second screening went off as good as one can hope. A good Q&A afterwards. We all shot a group pic afterwards on the SXSW red carpet.
Afterwards, I got the opportunity to talk with director Richard Linklater, who attended the screening. I told him Slacker was one of the reasons I decided to move to Austin. He laughed. Rick complimented us on our movie and said he really enjoyed it.
And the after party for the cast/crew at Rio Rita went great – perfect setting.
