Based in Austin, filmtheory is a film company operated by owner, MONTE ROBISON.
Monte has combined experience in the film and music business, including working for several years as an agent assistant in the motion picture department of the talent agency INTERNATIONAL CREATIVE MANAGEMENT (ICM). While at ICM, Monte had the opportunity to work with directors such as Shekhar Kapur (“Elizabeth”), William Friedkin (“French Connection”), Jay Roach (“Austin Powers”) and Pulitzer prize winning author, Norman Mailer.
Monte has also worked as freelance screenplay reader for the major film studios, as well as a production assistant on television commercials and feature films. He began his movie career as a development associate at SAVOY PICTURES, where he assisted in early stage creative development on movies such as “A Simple Plan” and “American History X.”
In music, Monte co-founded the record label, ROBISON RECORDS, which produced albums with groups such as The Call, Gene Loves Jezebel and Dee Dee Ramone. Monte currently owns the digital record label, TRIPLE POP.
Monte is also a trained filmmaker and has directed several short films and music videos and won several film festival awards for his work. He studied filmaking at New York University and holds a degree from The Ohio State University.
